Firefighters Train for CPR & AED While Police Equip LifeVac for Choking Emergencies
Metropolitan Medical Corporation Applauds Firefighter & Police Departments for Advancing Life-Saving Measures
At Metropolitan Medical Corporation, we’re all about supporting the brave first responders who put their lives on the line every day. Recently, firefighters and police officers in South Hackensack, NJ, took major steps in enhancing their life-saving skills and equipment, ensuring they’re ready for any emergency.
How First Responders in Moonachie Are Enhancing Emergency Preparedness
Moonachie Volunteer Fire Department held an important training session with Rescue Bobby, a specialized mannequin designed to simulate a downed firefighter in cardiac arrest.
Firefighters—both seasoned and new—practiced:
✔️ Removing firefighter gear and SCBA equipment quickly and safely
✔️ Performing CPR with precision and confidence
✔️ Using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) in high-stress situations
✔️ Utilizing a Bag Valve Mask (BVM) for effective airway management
When a firefighter goes down, every second counts. This hands-on training ensures first responders can act fast, increasing the chances of survival in real-life emergencies.

South Hackensack Fire & Police Equip LifeVac Devices
In addition to CPR and AED training, the South Hackensack Volunteer Fire Department, led by Fire Chief Carmine Maceri, has equipped their fire trucks with LifeVac choking first aid devices. These non-invasive devices help clear blocked airways in seconds, making them a crucial addition to emergency response gear.

✅ Why LifeVac?
Choking emergencies can happen anywhere, and first responders are often the first on the scene. LifeVac provides a quick and effective solution when traditional methods fail.LifeVac is to be used after BLS protocol (AHA/ARC) has failed, or cannot be administered (wheelchair, medical conditions etc).
